Chapter Two-
Meriwether Lewis and Seaman had started on there journey to the west. The first day Seaman was filled with joy as he boarded the boat to go down the Ohio River- it was about the happiest day in his life. Seaman rode in the back of the boat and he smelled smells he had never smelled before. Like different animals and plants. Soon the river got low, so the men had to pole most of the way. They also had to hire oxen to pull the boat and dig channels. A couple of weeks later, Seaman had his first great day of hunting. He was lying in the back of the boat, just sitting there. The dog scanned the shore. They had nothing of great interest, a couple of animals. Seaman decided to take a nap. Just then something caught his eye. He stuck his nose up in the air to smell a familiar smell- squirrel. Seaman wondered a squirrel on the water? He had never seen a squirrel on water. The canine decided to take a look. He looked over the side to see lots of squirrels. He barked to Lewis. Lewis said: "What is it boy?" Seaman barked again at the water. Lewis looked over the side. He saw the same thing Seaman had saw. "Go get them boy!" Seaman jumped in to the water and caught so many squirrels that when he was tired, there was a pile of squirrels in the boat. They all had squirrel for dinner.
