Have you ever read this book, Louis and Clark and Me...A Dog's Tale. We started it in class.
Today we read chapter one, two and three of the book by Laurie Myers.
In chapter one it starts with the dog explaining the setting, sitting on a dock with his owner. It talks about his old owner selling Seaman (that's the dogs name) for $20 to Lewis Meriweather. Then, they start the expedition.
In chapter two it talks about their journey down the river, and after about an hour of sailing they run into a whole bunch of swimming squirrels. Seaman catches a whole pile of them and then the crew has them for dinner.
In chapter 3 it talks about when they encounter their first indians. One of them calls Seaman "bear", and then Lewis and Clark show the indian some tricks that Seaman does.
They tell the indian that Seaman is a dog and then the indian says "Bear-Dog." He wanted to trade 3 beaver skins for Seaman, but Lewis said "no trade".
I like this book because the main character is a dog. It's interesting because it tells about history too. I suggest you read it! What do you think will happen next?
