I have seen dogs who are stuck with men who are okay and some with men who are just plain mean. Not Lewis and I. Lewis and I just fit together. We knew what each other was thinking at times, without saying a word. We could walk to the top of the mountain and he wouldn't say a word. For some reason we both love the wilderness. Why I liked it, was because I loved to swim, run, retrieve things, and my size. I think Lewis preferred the wilderness more than people because he would love to look at plants, and look at new animals that he had never seen. When we were walking along and prickly thorns got into my paws he would gently pull them out. For some reason he had never been mean to me. And so when that day I'll never forget came when women and men were yelling and crying Lewis would put his hand on my head and I would push my head into it more. I new what he was going to say before he said it, "Good job Seaman."

Chapter 8 deer
I loved to hunt. We all did. The more we hunted, the better we did wording with a team-I and Lewis and the other men. One of my favorite came to me on a May day. We were by the river. It had been a very cold night. Me and Lewis got up early. This morning was quiet. Some Indians had spent the night by us. They got up early too. All of a sudden we saw Sergeant Nathaniel Pryor walk by another camp by us. He had a gun with him. I hope he was going to hunt. Outside the camp there was a salt lick which deer liked to eat it. Pryor was my favorite hunter. Then we saw a couple deer. A few minutes later we heard the shot. Pryor yelled, "Captain, your way!". Lewis and I jumped up. We ran toward the river. The deer saw me. It startled him. He stumbled back and turned right. I darted left. He obliged me by turning towards the river."Good Job Seaman!" Lewis yelled. Then the Indians came on there horses toward the river. Then the deer was trying to find his options. He didn't have many. The deer had a wound. But it didn't care right now. It jumped into the river and went has fast as he could. Then I heard it. The shot. The deer fell to the ground. We brought it up shore. As we sat down at the campfire that night The men talked about the chase and the part each of us had played. When they talked about me, Lewis put his hand on my head. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the moment.

Chapter 7 Kidnapped
York and I were a convenient duo to Indians. York was black like me, and the Indians had never seen a black person before. They would rub his to see if it would come off. They thought that he had magical powers. He loved it. He would dance around and yell a lot as if he had magical powers! As for me, some thought that Lewis tamed a black bear cub and kept it as a pet. Most thought I had magic powers just like York.
When we met Indian tribes, most were OK. But the one that I hate the most are the Clatsop. The men were very somber when we were in Clatsop territory. They steal things from us! We don't usually try to get it back, but once they stole a member of our party. Me! Well I was just going a little outside the camp when I smelled their dirty smell. The first one scratched my fur and whispered to me. The second one came up to me. I expected that he would scratch my back too, but he put a rope around my neck. I glared at him. I jerked my head two times. Then the third one came to me it pulled a piece of beaver out. I couldn't resist. I ate the beaver in two bites. Then he pulled out another beaver out. I went. They went a little faster then I wanted, but I was used to Lewis's fast pace. When we were walking through the forest I heard voices. The Indians were scared so they stopped. I recognized the voices because they were my men's voices. The Indians tried to pull me to get with them, but I stood my ground. They finally went away.

Chapter 6 Buffalo
Every time I hear, see, or smell them. I feel my hair on my back stand on it's tips. They are buffalo. I know they are dangerous but they are also playful. They'er dangerous when the come in stampedes. They'er playful when they are shy enough not to go charging. I'm up with the nightguard. Suddently I hear the water in the river swishing around. Something is swimming towards us. It's coming closer I can hear it. Then it steps on our canoes. It is coming on land. I smell it. Buffalo. The nightguard has heard it to. We stand alert. Suddently out of nowhere comes a big charging something! It's a buffalo! The nightguard stands up in front of it and yells and waves his arms. It sores across. Trampling a fire, and missing the people sitting by inches. It comes back Charging full speed at the tent! The nightguard stands up and yells again, but it's no use. Now it's up to me a plane dog to save the day! If I didn't the sleeping people would get trampled, and Lewis and the other people in the tent crushed. I started barking and growling like I never did before. That was no use. So I stood on my hind legs and waved my arms pretending to be a monster. The buffalo got confused and ran right barrely missing the sleeping people's heads. Then they all wake up, take there guns, and aim at evrything around them. But the buffalo is already gone. Lewis get's up and says something. I knew what it was before he siad it. " Good job Seaman."

Chapter 5 Beaver
I think that Chapter 5 was scary! It all began when I was really sleepy. Suddenly the sent of beaver caught my nose. I opened my eyes just a little. I noticed the beavers at once. I noticed somthing diffrent about them immediately. There size. There size was huge! All of them where big. They were the biggest beaver I had ever seen in the whole journey! It was so cool. I still felt a little sleepy still. Then suddenly a really big beaver caught my eye! I barked to get the mens attention to the beavers. Lewis looked.
" Beaver," He said. Suddenly one of Lewis's men called out. It was Drouillard.
" I want that ones tail, Captin," He said.
"Take him said Lewis" I was ready. Drouillard lowered his long pistol and Sacgawea placed a hand on my shoulder. I was ready. BOOM! Drouillard got him. Now it was my part.
"Go get him," Said Lewis. I was excited. Out I went to retrive the beaver. It was tricky. It turned around a lot. I tried bitting it. I missed. I tried again and again but kept on turning. Suddenly it bit me! I tried swimming back to the boat but it was diffuicult. The men started rowing toward me. By the time they finally got to me I was barely moving. Lewis and Sacgawea took care of me while my wound healed. They fed me lots of meat. I thought this was my lesson.

Chapter 4 Buffalo Calf
Lewis and I love to walk. One walk a buffalo calf started trailing behind Lewis. After a while I started to get jealous because the calf was getting all the attention. I figured that if I growled he'd run away like a little kitten running away from a bear. "Where's you're mother?" Lewis asked. The calf's eyes were filled with red fear. He was afraid of me. I didn't know exactly why he was afraid of me. My growl didn't work so I decided to just tag a-long with Lewis and the unknown buffalo calf. I think that we walked for more than 2 miles, though since I'm just a dog I can't really monitor the steps or miles. When we got back to the boat Lewis and I climbed in. As the boat sailed away, I had a very weird feeling. I felt sad for the buffalo calf. It couldn't come with us. How would it get in the ship? Or out of the ship? Anyways I felt sad for the calf. Maybe it didn't have any Mom.
