Today we had a guest speaker in our class. His name is Mr. Bob Minich, he's Amelia'a uncle. He talked about the Meeker's (Ezra and Eliza).
When Ezra was about 5-8 he moved to Indiana because his parents wanted a better farm. He married the girl next door her name was Eliza James. One time there was the worst winter there ever was in 1851 and they were stuck between it all! So they went on the Oregon Trail to Oregon. Marian their first son went on the trip when he was not more than 7 weeks old! So they had to put him in a basket and tied him to two other baskets of bread and other stuff in the back. But then he (Ezra) ended up looking for a farm in Pualipe! They all met up on the farm Jacob (Ezra's father),Oliver (Ezra's brother) and of course Eliza. After that they all started a store in Stilcome. One time they sent Oliver to San Francisco (California) go get a bunch of food for them and the store. But when he came home there was a storm and the boat sank down so did Oliver and all their savings! That's why they named their youngest daughter Olive (to rember him). After they got 87 dollars selling hops they got more acres and was making about 15,000 a year ever since Europe didn't grow any hops and wanted Beer (not the kind that we have today but it used to be nutricise and was like a liquedy bread. Beer was very important then because the water was bad an germy and lots of people even died from it! When he was grown about 40-50 he lived in a cabin and one time he took Eliza to Queen Victoria! When they got back she said as they opened the door "I want a new house" "Huh" he said back "Yeah I want a better house." Then they moved to a mansion that Eliza built herself. Today it's still here you should go visit it sometime soon. Well gotta go bye.

Museum of Flight
Did you know that today we went to the Museum of Flight? It was fun, we saw the Boeing model 80, Lockhead M/D-21 "Blackbird",Boeing 737,and Douglas DC3. We got to ride in a Blue Angel and a Blackbird.
My group had four kids and one adult. My chaperone was Kevin's dad. In my group there were Kevin, Mitchell, Me, and Zoe. There were four other groups in my class. We saw a movie about space and lots of other things too! That what we did. Have you gone to the Museum of Flight?

Art Docent Program
Today Mrs. Wilhelm (My mom) came in to talk about Robert Motherwell. He was one of the first abstract expressionists and artist. He was born on January 24, 1915 in Aberdeen, Washington. He died on July 16, 1991 when he was 76 years old. What we did for art today we were abtract expressionists. We used watercolors and a cloth then we painted. Some people just did colors. Some people flung their paint on the paper. But then some people expressed themselves. After that some people just painted pictures for there parents or someone else. If you are mad you probably used black, dark blue, or dark green. If you are happy you probaly used yellow, orange, or light green. Today I thought was a fun day. Do you think it would be fun?

The Last Four Chapters of Lewis and Clark and ME
Have you ever read the book Lewis and Clark and Me? Well today our class read the last four chapters of Lewis and Clark and Me. The first thing you're probobly wondering is who is ME? Me is the dog, Seamen, that accompanied Lewis & Clark on there journey. The first of the four chapters is called Kidnapped! The next is called Deer the third is called My Favorite Words, and the last is Afterword.
Kidnapped is the first chapter of the four chapters that I am going to tell you about. In this chapter the dog, Seaman, gets kidnapped by the indians. I'll read a little out of it: Most of the the the men I was traveling with did not try to get back the things the Indians took. Lewis sead it wasn't worth starting an Indian fight over. Then one day, the Indians stole something that was worth fighting over. That thing was ME! I was outside the camp sniffing after a squirrl when the first Indian appered. I smelled him before I saw him but I didn't think anything of it. As you would guess they had treats for Seamon, beavor. So they put a rope around his neck and lured him towards thier camp. They almost got him too, but they heard voices and fled, but Seamon stayed put.
The next chapter is Deer. One night one of the men from the party went out to the salt lick to check for deer there was one there. This man, Sergeant Nathaniel Pryor, had killed a few deer in the last few days but this one was about twice as big as the ones he had cought before. Seamon chased him to the river then the men shot him.
The last chapter is called My Favorite Words. I'll read a little of that too: I've seen dogs with good men. And dogs with men who are just plain mean. Most dogs hope for a man they can understand. It's great when you know what you're supposed to do. Lewis knew exactly what I could do, and he let me do it. In fact, it got so that Lewis didn't have to tell me what he wanted me to do. I knew.
If you want to read the whole thing of each and every chapter, read the book! Believe me, you want to read it.

Geotechnical Engineering
Today my dad came in to talk about soils. He works at Golder Associates.
Here is a bit that I learned about soil. First, I will tell you about erosion. Erosion is when a rock is on the beach gets pounded by the waves for years then the rock gets smaller and smaller until it is reduced to sand, and silt.
Next, I will tell you what type of ground you need to build buildings on. You need to build them on hard ground because if you build it on soft ground it will tip over. My dad also showed us a picture of a landslide in Japan. That is some of the stuff I learned what did you learn?
